Dove Challenges
2018

	This was a 2-week sprint design process to create a health tracking app to help Dove’s consumers build self-esteem and body positivity. Our solution utilizes data collected by third-party health-tracking apps and suggests challenges for the user to take on. With each challenge, the user collects tokens that can be later turned into product discounts or charitable donations.

	Opportunity
	Dove is a well known bodycare brand that since it’s groundbreaking campaign from 2004 promotes that beauty is not one dimensional and that all kinds of bodies, colours and shapes should be celebrated.
The brief asked us to create a health-tracking app to help users build self esteem and body positivity. They should be able to track their well-being and health statistics and also purchase Dove products.



	Discovery &#38;amp; Research
	We started our research by looking at the current landscape of health-tracking apps. We took a close look at exercise trackers like Nike Run, FitBit and Apple Health, and others like Headspace (mindfulness app) and Flo (period tracker app).&#38;nbsp;
We then discovered that the current apps are mainly focused on keeping track of numbers and statistics but add little value to this information. We also found that illustrations and pastel colors creates a very pleasing and soothing experience.

	User Research


	To try to get a better understanding on how women keep track on their mental and body health, and how they deal with topics such as confidence, happiness and self-esteem we conducted 12 interviews with females aged 25 to 65.After analysing the material and through an Affinity Mapping exercise we concluded that for our interviewees, at the root of self esteem and confidence was the balance of the following:

Persona

With these in mind we then crafted our persona – Maria. A secondary school teacher who finds herself overwhelmed with attributions and lacking motivation to keep body and mind fit.&#38;nbsp;

Design Studio
	After defining our problem statment – Maria needs a way to challenge herself because she is busy and lacks motivation – we moved on to designing a solution that could help her feel motivated and engaged.&#38;nbsp;
Through 5 rounds of Design Studio and a feature priorisation exercise we came to our MVP.

Testing and IterationsDuring testing we learned that our users were feeling discouraged by 01. the number of steps it took to join a challenge, 02. for having to commit their own money and 03. for not fully understanding the purpose of the app.&#38;nbsp;
We then iterated on the userflow to make it more meaningful for both the users and business.

01 – Changes on how challenges are proposed to have a more engaging and gamified experience. 02 – Changes on how the app keep track of progress, instead of manually checked daily goals, the app collects information from partners and checks the completition of the total goal, not daily challenges.

By creating the gamified version, where users didn’t commit money and Dove would turn their tracked efforts into donations or products discounts, users felt more motivated to engage with the app.



	Our SolutionAfter our findings and testing, we created a solution that could turn quantitative data into qualitative data.&#38;nbsp;

	By syncing our app with other health-tracking apps we offer the users the chance to take part in challenges and it allows Dove Challenges to follow the users’ progress with the collected data.
The challenges are divided in categories such as Fitness, Mindfulness, Lifestyle and Health. Once each challenge is completed, the user is rewarded Bubble Tokens that can later be converted to charitable donations or discounts on Dove’s products.

&#38;amp; Next StepsOur users felt really excited by the final app proposal as it offers extra motivation and an easy way to not only help themselves but others.
The proposal also aligns with Dove’s initiatives to support girls and women around the world, and bring the user closer to their cause by adding them as contributors.&#38;nbsp;
For next steps our team would like to work on creating a social network within each challenge so users could meet and build a real-life support network in their community.&#38;nbsp;</description>

	This was a 2 week sprint design process to help Stay Nimble, a career coaching digital platform, test their new onboarding and MVP and help them define next-steps for their product. Through user testing and interviews we redefined the scope and worked on their entire user flow.

	Opportunity
	Stay Nimble is a UK Certified Social Enterprise start up founded in 2017 by Dominic Atkinson. Its mission is to create a digital platform to make career coaching — a service that currently exclude large parts of society due to cost — available to a wider audience.
They help users discover new career possibilities and through a program of exercises and tasks, develop  the necessary skills to pursue them. 

The brief asked our team to test their current MVP,&#38;nbsp;launched in March 2018, and try to identify new possible features and opportunities.




	User interviews

	Through a previously conducted market research Stay Nimble had already defined an initial focus group that consisted of women, aged 22 to 44, looking for personal improvement. Understanding how this platform could have a much broader audience and social impact, we sent out a screening survey to find prospects belonging to different groups. 

We interviewed and tested with 16 out of the 71 survey respondents, and 3 active users.An affinity mapping revelead us a lot of patterns, 
some of them confirming our initial assumptions:

We wanted to create the biggest impact with the minimum effort, as we only had one 2 weeks sprint.

After sharing this findings with stakeholders, we agreed on changing the initial scope to, instead of working on possible new features, restructure and improve on the current user flow.





IdeationTo get everyone thinking toward the same goal we created our persona: Jane is a 28 years old woman who lives and works in London, in the Advertising world. Due to late hours and a stressful life, she’s looking for a career change. To achieve that Jane needs guidance and support so she is confident and prepared to progress in her career.&#38;nbsp;

	Workshop &#38;amp;Design Studio
	To understand how we could&#38;nbsp;create a homepage that would clearly convey to Jane what Stay Nimble could do to help her, we ran a workshop with stakeholders.
We used three different tools: a word storming exercise, where we asked participants to: describe in a few words per post-it what do you want your users to understand, feel, think, experience when they think of Stay Nimble.
An affinity mapping, where we grouped and named the trends found: Trust &#38;amp; Support, Inspiration, Sense of community, Feeling of achievement, easiness of use, Tools &#38;amp; Process.
A Crazy 8, where we gave participants 5 minutes to come up with 6 to 8 ideas for the homepage to meet these goals. 
After a round of voting, the homepage should:

Prototyping 
&#38;amp; TestingApart from the homepage, we proposed two major changes to the user flow: 

1. the sign up form becoming a separate page and 
2. the tests being incorporated to the product. 
With this we expected to offer a quicker signup and add more value to the actual product, as users really valued the tests results. We set out to test and iterate on our solutions:

Visual DesignSN currently uses two different visual languages. A homepage focused on sports images, black and yellow. And a product with smoother pastel colors and graphic elements. We followed with the latter which creates a soother experience and avoids the perception of a sports/travel website. 
Still, we wanted to convey the idea that changing careers is a journey and – why not? – an adventure.To create a warmer feel we added hand drawn assets, as many interviewees mentioned that career coaching is a very personal process.

	Next Steps 
&#38;amp; Results
	To create even more confidence and trust in users we would like to create an About Us page, talking about Stay Nimble’s team and partners. And also showcase true stories of Stay Nimble’s users.
For their product we suggest bringing the tests inside their platform to have consistent branding and clear indication of progress,&#38;nbsp;as shown in the prototype.
Stay Nimble’s team embraced the results of our research and design sprint and understood how a few changes to their flow could have a big impact in attracting more users and offering more to the current ones. 
Our work will be implemented during the year of 2019.

SavEat
2018

	SavEat is a solution for those who love to cook, eat well and save money in the meanwhile. It is the result of a 2-week design sprint where I was tasked to create a mobile app that could solve a day-to-day problem for a fellow student. For this assignment, I was paired with Vivien Chin. Through user research, I was able to identify one major pain point in her daily routine and propose a solution to address it.

	Discovery &#38;amp; Research
	This was our first project in our first week at the General Assembly’s course, therefore, we knew nothing about each other. 
To get some insights into how Vivien’s routine goes, I conducted a 30 minutes interview where I asked questions regarding her background, what brought her to London, the first things she did when she got up and when she came home from work, about her commute, who she lived with and much more. It was a deep dive to better understand her life and daily frustrations.This interview led me to a few key takeaways: Vivien is a young professional who moved to London in 2016. She is a foodie who loves to explore new places and being out with friends. She also thoroughly enjoys cooking and, as living in London can be very expensive, she tries to cook at home as often as possible as a way to save money. Some ingredients she likes, though, can be hard to find and pricey.

To further investigate how her cooking habits influence her overall schedule and budget, I asked her to describe her experience from hungry to full. A User Journey and an Experience map helped me better visualize her behaviors and emotions.

Problem DefinitionThrough these exercises, it was clear she had to go through different digital tools and places that cost her a lot of time and patience and 2 major frustrations stood out:

01. Choosing a recipe was a hard task.

02. Ingredients price-searching was a decisive yet annoying part of the process.

The definition of a problem statement helped me set a clear goal for the product: Vivien needs to find good new recipes to make as often as possible because she wants to cook and save money for travels and fun moments.

IdeationWith this, I started thinking and sketching possibilities of products and features that could help Vivien in her cooking journey.
The proposed MVP to solve Vivien’s problem is a location-based groceries price-tracking app that would suggest daily recipes based on discounted items. This way she would always be inspired and know where to go for the best deals.

To test this idea I created a user flow and a paper prototype, which you can see here, considering a happy path for this product.

	Visual Design
	For the look and feel of the product, inspiration came from brands like Airbnb and Mailchimp. Both with the same values as I defined for SavEat based on Vivien’s persona: caring, fresh, young, reliable and fun.

The voice description and mood board informed my visual design decisions for the style guide and user interface.

Testing &#38;amp; IterationsAs the basic functions and features had already been tested and iterated on, testing the hi-fi prototype revealed issues mostly related to copy and small interactions:

The solutionSavEat (/Save it/) helps the user take quicker and smarter decision related to her cooking and money-saving habits. 
It’s a simple and effective solution that can be navigated by ingredients, recipes or recipes costs.

Samba(2016) is an art gallery in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Up until 2024, it focused on the secondary market, the resell of works from already renewed artistsIn 2024 its owners took the decision to venture into the primary market — representing and exhibiting new and upcoming artists — and for this bold move, we developed a new visual identity system that could support them in this new journey. &#38;nbsp;

The typography-and-color-based visual identity allows the gallery to keep it's consistency while also creating space for a lot of exploration and variation between the quietness of the gallery as a white cube or the loudness of an art-driven and provoking institution.

Tátil Design was invited to create the visual identity for one of the biggest festivities in the world, Rio’s Carnaval. For this they built a big team of collaborators in different areas and we were invited to contribute in the expasion of the visual language and its ruling.Over 7k people were involved. Professionals and lovers of Rio’s Carnival, outstanding samba personalities that inspire us. The new Rio Carnaval brand represents samba’s community. The power of the collective, the infectious energy, the ability to transform the ordinary in extraordinary. The flag represents the soul of the samba schools, and our great inspiration was its evolution on the avenue, in the hands of the flag bearer, with fluid and rhythmic movements.Client: Liesa&#38;nbsp;

O Prazer de Matar Insetos (The Pleasure of Killing Bugs) is short film about a nun in a post-apocalyptic world where insect are extinct.

The assignment consisted of one conceptual and one commercial poster and, as the film itself, the conceptual proposal is inspired by Magritte's paintings. The sky here though is darkening and cloudless.&#38;nbsp;

Capri Family office is an assets management firm focused on the Multi-Family Office segment. Their clients are individuals, families and companies who need tailored 
and highly qualified consultancy to manage their global wealth.
Capri, an italian island treasured by the founders, served as inspiration for both the name and visual identity. Its history, landscapes and architecture were translate into icons, representing clients assets, while their movement on a grid allowed for a structured yet dynamic and customizable identity, much like Capri’s services.&#38;nbsp;

Zee.Now is a delivery app for everyday pet products like food, toys, medicine and more. It’s a new enterprise by Brazilian brand Zee.Dog. 
Zee.Dog has built a strong community with their fun and unique approach to ever-boring pet products, and it was their goal to create a new sub-brand that could also run on its own. Known in the market for its high quality, focus on design, and for providing great experiences and a curated selection of cool products Zee.Dog goal was to enrich the community experience with a new problem-solver touchpoint.&#38;nbsp;
